The Eve of St. Mark (1944)
William Eythe and Anne Baxter star as young lovers whose dreams for the future are put on hold by the onset of the pre-war military draft. Eythe's character is sent to the Philippines, where he finds himself trapped on a remote, desolate island after reinforcements are diverted by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Despite the isolation and harsh conditions, Eythe and his fellow soldiers experience both grueling and uplifting challenges. He draws strength from his correspondence with Anne, whose heartfelt letters give him the courage to persevere.
