That Midnight Kiss (1949)

In Philadelphia, soprano Prudence Budell returns from Europe after five years of training at the best European music schools. Her wealthy grandmother, Abigail Trent Budell, sponsors an opera company led by the famous maestro Jose Iturbi to give Prudence a chance to star in an opera. They hire renowned tenor Guido Russino Betelli, but Prudence does not feel comfortable performing with him. When Prudence accidentally hears American-Italian truck driver Johnny Donnetti singing opera, she persuades Jose Iturbi to give Johnny an opportunity. As Prudence and Johnny fall in love, a misunderstanding ensues when Prudence believes Johnny has feelings for his colleague Mary after seeing them together at his workplace.
