Slightly Dangerous (1943)
Peggy Evans, a bored 21-year-old, has just received recognition for perfect attendance at work but feels trapped in her everyday routine. Seeking excitement, she leaves behind a note—mistaken for a suicide note—and moves to New York for a fresh start. After a makeover, a chance accident lands her in the headlines as an amnesia victim, simply because she no longer wants to be Peggy Evans. The media suspects she might be a missing heiress, Carol Burden, prompting Peggy to dig through old newspapers for clues. She discovers that Cornelius Burden, Carol's father, has a history of exposing impostors, and she must cleverly outwit him and his companion, Baba, to maintain her new identity. Complicating matters further, Peggy's former manager, Bob Stuart, threatens to reveal her secret.
