Shake Hands with the Devil (1959)
Set in 1921 Dublin, Ireland, 'Shake Hands with the Devil' follows Irish-American Kerry O'Shea (Don Murray), a medical student at the College of Surgeons. After fighting in World War I, Kerry wants to avoid further violence, but he is drawn into the conflict between the Irish Republican Army and the British Black and Tans after his friend Paddy Nolan (Ray McAnally) is killed. As political tensions escalate, Kerry becomes involved with Jennifer Curtis (Dana Wynter), a beautiful English hostage. Meanwhile, the British offer a peace treaty that fails to satisfy Sean Lenihan (James Cagney), the rebellious organization's leader and Kerry's former professor.
