Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932)

Set in 19th century Paris, the film follows the mad Dr. Mirakle, who abducts young women and injects them with ape blood in an attempt to prove a kinship between apes and humans. His twisted experiments result in the deaths of his victims, drawing the suspicion of medical student Pierre Dupin. When Dupin's girlfriend, Camille, is abducted by Mirakle, he races against time to enlist the help of the police and rescue her.
