Flight for Freedom (1943)
A fictionalized biography inspired by the life of Amelia Earhart, here portrayed as Tonie Carter. The film opens with a patriotic preface about air warfare in the Pacific before flashing back to Carter's first solo flight in 1932. The story follows her whirlwind romance with ace pilot Randy Britton, advanced flight training, a transcontinental race, her rise to world fame, an aborted round-the-world flight, and ultimately, her mysterious disappearance. "Flight for Freedom" popularized the theory that Earhart's disappearance was linked to secret work for the U.S. Navy.
