Detour (1945)

In this film noir classic, New York nightclub pianist Al Roberts hitchhikes to Hollywood to reunite with his girlfriend, Sue. During his journey, he is picked up by a sleazy gambler who mysteriously dies one rainy night. Fearing police suspicion, Roberts assumes the dead man's identity. However, his troubles only deepen when a blackmailing woman enters the picture, sending him spiraling into even greater danger.
